French Language Homestay Program
The French Homestay at Provence-en-Famille
The French homestay immersion program allows a student to be totally immersed in the French language. It also provides for one-on-one French tutoring which is extremely effective for those who must learn French for professional or academic reasons as well as for those learning the language for pleasure. The french program will be tailored to your specific learning style and needs. Emphasis may by placed on conversation, writing, reading skills, vocabulary, or a special subject. You will hear French spoken properly all day long. You will not use valuable learning time that must be devoted in larger class settings to accomodate a variety of abilities. Participants become a part of our family's life during their stay and share in a cultural and learning experience that will develop both an understanding of the language and of the French people.
Instructional Time
The
homestay
portion of this program begins on Sunday after 5pm and ends on Saturday
after breakfast. Students
may choose 10, 15, or 20 hours of one-on-one french instruction per
week. Because instruction is made to fit each student's needs, the
daily schedule will vary from student to student. The schedule will be
determined during the first tutoring session on the first Monday of the
stay. A typical weekday (Monday through Friday) begins with
breakfast followed by a tutoring
session. Lunch is served between 1:00 or 1:30. In the afternoon
students are free to read some of the French books available to them,
study the lessons from the morning, visit the town and surrounding
areas, or just relax in our apartment. Dinner is served around
8:30 which is the usual dining hour in France. The learning is not
confined to the tutoring sessions. The whole
day of a homestay is a learning experience.
Elisabeth Dol
Credentials
I have a master's degree in English and French (Comparative Litterature) and have been teaching French as a Foreign Language for 20 years. I truly enjoy teaching and helping my students achieve success. Care is taken with my explanations so that they are clear and concise. I am careful to make any corrections in a manner that has the most value for my students. The corrections are given in a respectful way so that their self-esteem remains intact.
My Family
My family consists of my husband Roland, one daughter and one son, both of whom no longer live at our house. Roland is a retired consulting engineer. His interests include history, world economics, architecture (particularly Roman), and photography. I enjoy gardening, cooking, reading, music, the cinema, and the theater. My family and I will be delighted to chat with you. Outside of your lessons or cultural activities, we will compare our ways of life, perhaps go see a film together and help you make good use of your spare time. Your welcome will be warm and you will leave with very fond memories of France.
